Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed August 20, 2026
This statement covers zongo and is provided in line with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the harmonized standard EN 301 549, which incorporates WCAG 2.1 Level AA for mobile software.
Conformance status
zongo is designed to conform to EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Supported today:
- VoiceOver — every control is labelled and every screen is navigable without sight. The puzzle board is exposed as a single element with live progress (“N of M cells covered, next number K”), and direct interaction lets VoiceOver players draw with the same gesture as everyone else.
- Dynamic Type — text and informative icons scale with the system text size, including the largest accessibility sizes.
- Reduce Motion — animated and ambient effects are disabled or frozen when the system setting is on; anything they conveyed stays visible as a static mark.
- Colour is never the only cue — states that matter are also distinguished by shape, text, or symbol.
- Contrast — colour palettes are checked against the WCAG floors (4.5:1 for text, 3:1 for UI components) by an automated test suite.
- Touch targets — interactive controls meet the 44 pt minimum.
- No audio- or haptic-only information — illegal moves, portals, and solves are always shown on the board; sound and haptics can each be switched off.
- No time limits in solo play — the solo timer is a stopwatch, never a fail condition. Timed pressure exists only in opt-in multiplayer races, where timing is essential to the activity (WCAG 2.2.1 essential exception).
- Spoken tips — coach guidance, dead-end notices, and win summaries can be read aloud.
Known limitations
- The multiplayer race countdown cannot be paused or extended; timing is essential to that competitive mode. Every other mode is untimed.
- Solving a puzzle means drawing a continuous path. VoiceOver's direct interaction supports this, but Switch Control users may find freeform drawing difficult. We are evaluating a step-by-step move input as an alternative.
